The PYXIS 6K is available with three lens mount options—L-Mount, EF, or PL—though the mounts are fixed and cannot be switched post-purchase.

Blackmagic Design also came out with a new electronic viewfinder (EVF) compatible with the PYXIS 6K. This accessory features a 1920 x 1080 color OLED display, customizable soft-touch buttons, and connects via USB-C.

Recording

Recording capabilities of the PYXIS 6K include two built-in CFexpress card recorders and a USB-C expansion port for direct external media recording. The camera supports up to 36fps recording at full 6K resolution in 3:2 Open Gate, and up to 100fps in a Super 16 crop.

Connectivity options include dual 12G-SDI outputs for 4K, an Ethernet port for cloud-based workflows, and additional USB-C for external SSD recording. The camera supports a variety of shooting modes and resolutions, from HD up to 6K, and includes features such as a built-in 4″ HDR LCD screen, professional audio input, and streaming capabilities for major online platforms.

The Blackmagic PYXIS provides the facility to shoot stills with great quality, featuring 24.6 megapixels. Where the PYXIS really stands out is in its ability to shoot a true anamorphic 6:5 mode to resolution much higher than other, more standard cameras at up to 4.8K 24fps, with a 4832×4032 output. It can also do 120 fps in 1080HD. With the Blackmagic PYXIS, you’re equipped to capture the perfect shots for any project.

Phone connectivity for 4G or 5G

To upload to Blackmagic Cloud, you can connect your Apple or Android phone to the internet using mobile data. Just plug the phone into the USB-C port, and Blackmagic PYXIS will automatically set up for mobile data use. It’s compatible with both the latest 5G and older 4G phones. Alternatively, you can use a wired Ethernet connection via the camera’s Ethernet port. This allows you to send your media to post-production teams worldwide in real time as you continue shooting! On-set grading can also be performed in a grading suite and then synced back to DaVinci on set. This setup provides a comprehensive global post-production solution, enhancing collaboration through Blackmagic Cloud and enabling creative teams to produce stunning work together.
