Overview
Designed with acoustic guitarists and singer-songwriters in mind, the Zoom AC-3 is a DI pedal built to restore the natural character of your instrument—reclaiming the tone often lost when relying on standard acoustic pickups. It offers 16 Source presets to match common body types such as dreadnought and parlor, plus a Target knob with 12 additional tonal profiles for fine-tuning. For example, if you’re playing a Martin D-18 dreadnought, you can select “dreadnought” as the Source and “D-18” as the Target to dial in an authentic, recognizable tone.
A pickup selector switch allows you to choose between magnetic and piezo systems, optimizing the pedal’s response accordingly. Tone shaping is enhanced with a 3-band EQ, reverb, adjustable volume, anti-feedback control, a single-band compressor, and a built-in tuner. The AC-3 even features two independent reverbs—one always available and another located in the effects section—making layered ambience, such as adding a slapback to a reverberated signal, fully achievable. A boost switch delivers up to 9 dB of extra gain for solos or standout moments. Regardless of your settings, the AC-3’s high-quality, low-noise preamp ensures a rich, resonant sound. Its large volume knob handles both input gain and output level, simplifying level matching and making adjustments intuitive.
