With its precise directional pickup and resistance to structure-borne noise, this microphone delivers exceptional audio, making it ideal for diverse production settings such as indie films, web series, documentaries, and nature programs.
Exceptional Sound Quality
The MKE 600, measuring 10″ in length, utilizes an interference tube and a supercardioid/lobar polar pattern to deliver highly focused on-axis audio capture while significantly reducing sound from the sides and rear. This design makes it far superior to the omnidirectional microphones typically built into cameras, especially for recording distant audio sources.
Low-Frequency Noise Control
Engineered with a natural reduction of sub-bass frequencies below 40 Hz, the MKE 600 prevents excessive bass buildup. Additionally, its switchable low-cut filter at 100 Hz effectively reduces low-frequency noise from sources like air conditioners or traffic, ensuring clean and clear audio.
Versatile Power Options
Equipped with a 3-pin XLR output and compatibility with 48 VDC phantom power, the MKE 600 pairs seamlessly with various devices, including handheld audio recorders, field mixers, and camcorder preamps. For devices lacking phantom power, the microphone can operate for up to 150 hours using a single AA battery (sold separately). A red low-battery indicator signals approximately 8 hours of remaining runtime. Its on/off switch helps conserve battery life when not in use.
Flexible Mounting Solutions
The MKE 600 comes with a shoe shockmount, allowing quick attachment to cameras or tripods. For boompole or mic stand setups, the Rycote InVision INV-HG mkIII shockmount (sold separately) is recommended, offering additional isolation to minimize vibration transfer from the stand or pole.
Camera Compatibility with XLR to 3.5mm TRS Adapter
Included with the MKE 600 is a coiled adapter cable—XLR female to 3.5mm TRS male—enabling direct connection to a camera’s mini-jack mic input for seamless integration into your video workflow.
Effective Wind Noise Reduction
The included foam windscreen significantly diminishes wind noise caused by fans, air conditioners, or outdoor breezes, reducing it by up to 25 dB. For enhanced wind noise suppression and weather resistance, an optional Rycote 15cm Super-Softie windshield can be used, offering excellent rain protection as well.
