Overview
Introducing the new Lumix GH7 Mirrorless Camera from Panasonic, a powerhouse for professionals seeking advanced video and photo capabilities. This updated model now offers ProRes RAW internal recording, 32-bit float audio recording with the optional DMW-XLR2 interface, Adobe Cloud Frame.io integration, flexible Open Gate framing, and real-time custom LUTs. Retaining the compact form factor and all the features of its predecessor, the GH7 is equipped with a 25.2MP sensor, 5.7K30 Apple ProRes 422 HQ internal recording, enhanced Phase Hybrid AF, a 13+ stop dynamic range improvement, and 5-axis stabilization, making it perfect for indie filmmakers, pro photographers, documentary creators, or as a secondary camera in high-end productions.
Phase Hybrid AF & Advanced Recognition
The key to reliable autofocus is consistency. Alongside contrast AF, the LUMIX GH7 is equipped with Phase Detection AF, significantly enhancing subject tracking and metering accuracy. The camera excels at capturing subjects even in complex scenes with multiple moving elements, ensuring precise focus in challenging conditions, including low-light or backlit environments.
The Advanced Detection AF feature takes autofocus to the next level, especially for sports, wildlife, and vehicle photography. The GH7 now recognizes a broader array of subjects, such as human and animal eyes, vehicle fronts, drivers’ and motorcyclists’ helmets, the first car in a train, and even the nose of an airplane, allowing for superior tracking and focus precision.
High-Resolution 25.2MP Sensor, 5.7K Raw Video
The newly redesigned sensor in the Lumix GH7 enhances its predecessors with upgraded components and software, providing a 13+ stop dynamic range boost, even with a smaller cell size due to the increased pixel count on the Micro Four Thirds sensor. The GH7 offers 4:2:2 10-bit C4K/4K 60p/50p internal recording, supporting unlimited recording time when used within the recommended temperature range (-10 to 104°F).
For even more flexibility, the GH7 can record 5.7K30 ProRes RAW HQ footage internally to a CFexpress Type B card, eliminating the need for external devices and simplifying your setup. The SD card slot can capture up to 10-bit 4K120 footage, giving you more creative freedom in high-quality video recording.
Real-Time LUTs
LUTs can be directly applied to photos and videos on the camera, enabling you to produce images and footage right out of the camera. It supports both “.VLT” and “.CUBE” file formats. This feature streamlines your workflow, reducing the time spent on complex post-editing tasks. When paired with the LUMIX Lab app, you can easily create custom LUTs and load them onto the camera for personalized adjustments.
Unlimited Recording Times
Panasonic understands the need for uninterrupted shooting and has designed the GH7 with no maximum recording time. You can shoot for extended periods without worrying about overheating. The camera’s compact design and advanced heat dissipation system allow for continuous recording, even under demanding conditions such as 4:2:2 10-bit C4K/4K 60p/50p and ProRes RAW HQ.
Limitless Latitude
The GH7 supports 5.7K30 recording in high-quality Apple ProRes 422 HQ/ProRes 422 and ProRes RAW codecs, providing visually lossless, high-bitrate footage ideal for extensive post-production editing. It also offers ProRes 422 HQ/ProRes 422 in DCI 4K and FHD at up to 60p. For DCI 4K at 60p, the camera supports unlimited recording with 4:2:2 10-bit sampling, ensuring exceptional detail and color depth for precise color grading.
LUMIX Lab App
The GH7 features an ultra-fast Wi-Fi connection that allows you to pair the camera with your smartphone in just three simple steps, ensuring seamless content transfer. You can also crop, adjust brightness, and apply LUTs, making it easy to edit and prepare your content for any social media platform in no time.
