Overview

Designed to provide exceptional control over out-of-focus quality and to enhance bokeh, the Laowa 105mm f/2 Smooth Trans Focus Lens from Venus Optics is a short telephoto prime. This unique optical design incorporates an apodization (APD) element along with two separate diaphragms—one with 8 blades and another with 14 blades—allowing for independent adjustment of bokeh, exposure, and depth of field. The APD element functions as a radially graduated neutral density filter, limiting light transmission to a T-stop value of 3.2, while maintaining the depth of field and selective focus characteristics of an f/2 lens.
