Infinity Focus Calibration is REQUIRED with this kit.  In order to develop a more robust mount suitable for Cine, we had to make certain parts of the mount thicker so the mount’s integrity would withstand high torque motors on focus gears— while at the same time not bending, warping, or ultimately, breaking.  Due to this, we recommend that the lens be adjusted to make up for the slight difference in thickness.

A JIS Screwdriver is no longer included. Please select a Tool Option to purchase one if required.

Aperture Control Options:

Dampened Control Gear (DCG)

In addition to the newly designed mount, we’ve developed an optional integrated aperture gear, SIMply called the Dampened Control Gear (DCG).   DCG allows you to de-click and dampen the aperture on supported FD Breech Lock lenses while providing a 0.8 mod aperture gear for smooth aperture control.  Using the DCG system will eliminate any issues caused by iris drift.  DCG replaces the native aperture ring on your lens.  Each DCG is CNC machined from Delrin and is etched with the exact f/stop markings as the native aperture ring.  We strongly recommend the DCG option for all Cine Users.

Legacy EdLink Aperture Control (Discontinued)

The Legacy EdLink allows you to de-click the aperture while maintaining the native aperture ring on your lens.  Please note that de-clicked lenses using the standard EdLink may cause iris drifting.  This is due to a spring that wants to pull the aperture blades close.  The standard EdLink is the same used in our previous legacy FD conversion kit.

2:  Once you have determined the diameter of your focus ring, select the insert that is closest to your diameter.  For example, if your lens barrel measures 75.2mm, you would select and install the 75mm insert.  Install the insert into the precision channels in the aluminum gear.

3:  VERY IMPORTANT.  Set your focus to infinity on the lens.  Failure to set your focus to infinity can result in damage to your helicoid.

4:  With your lens sitting upright and focus set to infinity, install the focus gear from the top-down, pushing gently and evenly until it comes to rest at your desired spot on the focus ring.  If installing from the top-down is not possible, you can install from the bottom, however, it is very important to set your focus to infinity before putting any upward pressure.

The SIMple Fit Gear is the worlds first seamless follow focus gear that combines an all-aluminum gear with an interchangeable compressible insert, allowing you to fit any lens. SIMply select the insert size that measures closest to your lens body circumference and attach the gear. This kit will fit lenses with a focus barrel that measures between 62mm to 65mm in diameter, based on a compression value of -1mm when the rubber insert is fully compressed to fit.  For example, if your lens barrel measures 63.2mm, you would select and install the 63mm insert.  If required, please use the supplied shimming tape to fine tune the fitment.

Each kit comes with the following:

1 x Mod 0.8 aluminum follow focus gear / 10mm width (Optional 20mm width)

4 x Compressible insert (62mm, 63mm, 64mm, 65mm)

1 x Shimming Tape

DOWNLOAD MEASUREMENT RULER if you do not have a caliper to measure.  Please do not guess on the the measurement of your lens.
