Polaroid’s I-2 is its first analog instant camera with built-in manual controls, designed for photographers of all skill levels to explore creative possibilities. Equipped with a 98mm f/8 lens for stunning bokeh, it offers six shooting modes, including full manual and multiple exposure. The integrated viewfinder displays camera settings, and a flash sync port allows external strobe use. Compatible with i-Type, 600, and SX-70 Polaroid films, the I-2 is a versatile tool for crafting unique, one-of-a-kind images.

Polaroid’s Sharpest-Ever Lens

The I-2 boasts Polaroid’s most advanced lens system yet, featuring a continuous autofocus 3-lens setup with a LiDAR sensor for precise subject tracking and exceptional sharpness. The stepper motor-powered autofocus frame in the viewfinder displays the distance between the subject and focal plane, which can be locked by a half-press of the shutter button along with exposure. The 98mm, f/8 lens is coated to minimize glare and ghosting, while its focal length and aperture combine to create a greater depth of field, perfect for achieving high-quality bokeh and enhancing portrait shots. Additionally, the lens includes a 49mm filter thread mount for attaching screw-on filters, a first for Polaroid cameras.

Expanded Capabilities in the Polaroid App

The camera displays settings and light meter readings on both its external AMOLED screen and the viewfinder-integrated display. Exposure is determined using a center-weighted metering system that covers 60% of the viewfinder’s field of view, which can be adjusted by up to two stops in 1/3 increments with the EV Switch located at the base of the lens. The built-in flash allows for additional lighting, while the 2.5mm external flash sync port enables the use of off-camera strobes for limitless creative lighting possibilities.

The I-2 offers photographers the ability to control light, a fundamental aspect of the craft, with adjustable shutter speeds ranging from 1/250 to 30 seconds and aperture settings from f/8 to f/64. A bulb mode is also included for exposures longer than 30 seconds. This level of precision allows for creative effects such as bokeh, selective lighting, motion blur, and more.
