The 70-300mm f/4.5-6.3 is Tamron’s first telephoto zoom lens with 300m focal length for mirrorless system cameras with full-frame sensors. During development, the engineers focused on making telephotography an effortless experience for all photographers, regardless of their experience level. As well as offering exceptionally high image quality, the new telephoto zoom lens at 148mm in length, 77mm in diameter and weighs just 545g is the world’s most compact and lightest 70-300mm zoom in its class. The optical construction guarantees high resolution power and high-precision special lens elements correct for chromatic aberration and other optical image errors. Regardless of the focal length chosen, the photos s high contrast and sharpness. The 70-300mm F/4.5-6.3 makes zooming in on distant subjects easier than ever. The long focal length is not only suitable for sports, wildlife and nature photography, but also provides a beautiful perspective for portrait and street shots. In combination with Sony’s advanced camera functions, such as integrated image stabilization and Eye Detection AF, the fast RXD autofocus enables sharp telephoto shots even in dynamic situations.

Features and capabilities

High image quality and beautiful bokeh

The optical system comprises 15 elements divided into 10 groups, including a high-precision LD (Low Dispersion Element) element for correction of longitudinal color aberrations and other typical optical aberrations often encountered at telephoto focal lengths. The result is impressive: even at 300 mm, the resolution is very high right into the corners of the image. Another feature of this telephoto zoom is the attractive bokeh effect with a perfectly sharp main subject for a beautifully soft background.

Fast autofocus with RXD technology

The autofocus is based on a particularly quiet RXD stepping motor (Rapid eXtra-silent stepping Drive). The autofocus system has a sensor that continuously determines the current focus of the lens. This guarantees fast and precise autofocus. The AF tracks reliably with fast-moving subjects. Thus, even in dynamic situations, sharp freehand telephoto shots are successful. The autofocus works very quietly, so that no disturbing focus noises are registered during video recordings.

An XY-Shift compensation has now been added to enhance and enhance the Tamron VC image stabilization functionality from infinity to macro. This ultra-wide-angle zoom lens delivers superior optical performance with excellent image quality. This is only possible due to high brightness, rounded aperture blades and thanks to a new optical system specially designed for the Sony mirrorless cameras. The Tamron 17-28 mm stimulates expressive and creative photography in a multitude of scenarios, partly thanks to a unique minimum focusing distance of only 19 cm in the wide-angle position and 26 cm in the telephoto position. The overall length does not change when zooming in or during focusing, creating stable, well-balanced operation and excellent portability. In addition, the Tamron 17-28 mm has a filter size of just 67 mm, which is very small for an ultra-wide-angle zoom lens.
